RAMBO’S IN DARK OVER DEAL SNUB

- BY adrian kajumba

AARON RAMSEY claims he is in the dark about why Arsenal’s offer of a new contract was taken off the table.

The midfielder is resigned to the fact his Gunners’ career is coming to an end – but still wants answers why.

The Wales star’s deal expires next summer and he was all set to sign an extension only to be left stunned by the club’s shock U-turn.

And as it stands with no offer on the table Ramsey (above), who has been at Arsenal for 10 years, accepts the writing is on the wall.

Ramsey said: “Well, there is no contract on the table so there is nothing for me to consider or whatever. We all know the contract was taken away off the table.

“I’m not sure exactly why because a few weeks before we sort of agreed and I was ready to sign.

“Something happened, I am not sure exactly what, but that contract is no longer there.

“Hopefully somebody will come up and tell me why.

“I’ll accept that if there’s a reason. So I just have to get my head down, work hard and try and help this team as much as I can now. We’ll see where that takes me.”

Ramsey was giving nothing away on his potential next move other than to shutdown the idea of doing a Sol

Campbell and controversially swapping one north London club for another on a free transfer.

Asked if he would join Tottenham, who have been mentioned as admirers, he laughed: “No.”

He added on his future: “I’m not thinking about anything else apart from playing for Arsenal so we will see what the future holds.

“I’ve got other things as well in my life that I’m delighted with – we had twins last week so everything is good at the moment for me.

“We are just focusing on trying to achieve something special this season.”
