LESS IS MORE BUT NO PANIC

- BY GAVIN BERRY

Rangers v Aberdeen Tomorrow, 4.30pm

RANGERS boss Steven Gerrard has no fears over facing Aberdeen in tomorrow’s Betfred Cup semi-final without star strike duo Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty.

And the Englisham insists he isn’t planning a “crazy” gameplan to compensate for their loss as he backed his side to book a place in December’s final in their absence.

Gerrard is missing 12-goal Alfredo Morelos through suspension and fellow frontman Lafferty (inset) who is ineligble after playing for Hearts in the tournament before his Ibrox return.

The Gers gaffer has options with wingers Eros Grezda, Ryan Kent and Glenn Middleton all capable of playing through the middle.

The Light Blues played for 78 minutes without a striker against the Dons after Morelos was sent off in the opening game of Scottish Premiership season and only a lastgasp goal denied them a win at Pittodrie.

And ahead of tomorrow’s Hampden showdown, Gerrard said of the loss: “They are two big players for us but that doesn’t scare me.

“We are not feeling sorry for ourselves because we haven’t got our two strikers. We are really excited and looking forward to it.

“Alfredo has been our talisman. I’ve only got good things to say about him. I’m big fan of his and he will be missed and so will Kyle. It’s a challenge for me and an opportunity for someone else.

“I still have a confidence we will have enough to go and get the job done.”
