Vets farce final wake-up call

THE Government has been urging firms to get ready for a hard Brexit – but they have not heeded their own advice.

The disclosure that the Minister for Agriculture can’t confirm how many veterinary inspectors would be needed is farcical.

There are signs the Government has taken its foot off the pedal in the hope a deal is thrashed out between Britain and the EU.

While this is ideal, there’s every chance the UK could crash out, leading to a hard border.

If Brexit really poses the greatest challenge to our nation since WW2, ministers need to start acting like it.
