Senator call to slash cost of sun cream
Senator Lombard THE Finance Bill should include a reduction on the VAT on sun cream, Senator Tim Lombard has claimed.
The Fine Gael politician said it was essential to “remove any barriers to people using this potentially life-saving product”.
Mr Lombard added: “The Irish Cancer Society says skin cancer is the most common version in Ireland, with over 11,000 new cases diagnosed in 2015.
“The National Cancer Registry expects this number to double by 2040.
“It is clear we need to adopt a serious approach to changing behaviours.”
He said he has spoken to Health Minister Simon Harris and has presented his proposal to Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe.
