DERMOT TO MAKE HIS MARK

FULL details of the two-day Breeders Cup meeting, at Churchill Down in Kentucky on Friday and Saturday, will emerge today.

And, while Aidan O’brien will be responsible for the bulk of the Irish challenge, Dermot Weld, right, has booked Frankie Dettori to partner Eziyra in the Maker’s Mark Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Turf on Saturday.

The Aga Khan-owned filly, third to Enable in the Darley Irish Oaks last year and to Sea Of Class in this year’s Yorkshire Oaks, was last seen winning the Group 2 Blandford Stakes at the Curragh on Champions Weekend.

Among the opposition to Eziyra will be Princess Yaiza, winner of the recent Prix du Royallieu (Group 2) in Longchamp and a first Breeders Cup runner for in-form Gavin Cromwell, who completed a double with Callthebarman and Toosey in Ayr yesterday.
