IBRTING’IST L FOR THE FUTURE

- BY PAUL KEANE

BALLYBODEN St Enda’s captain Simon Lambert admits the new Dublin champions have “unfinished business” in the AIB Leinster club SHC.

Joe Fortune’s side overcame Kilmacud Crokes in a replay on Sunday to claim their seventh Dublin title.

They’ll return to Parnell Park this weekend for a Leinster quarterfinal clash with Clonkill of Westmeath.

That’ll be a repeat of their 2011 meeting which Ballyboden won, their only win in Leinster from their last seven provincial games.

The pressure is also on to perform because neighbours Cuala reached the last three Leinster finals, winning two and claiming back to back All-irelands.

Former Dublin defender Lambert (above) said: “We’ve had six opportunities to get over the line in Leinster as a club and we never have. We got to one Leinster final, 11 years ago.

“So we’ll enjoy this win but we have unfinished business. We saw the belief that Cuala gave everyone when they won their All-irelands and Leinsters so we have to take some of that and run with it. It can be done.

“We have Clonkill next weekend, I’m sure they were sitting watching our final and looking at our weaknesses, at where they can catch us.

“But Cuala winning what they have, two Leinsters, it can be done. Just because they did it doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re going to get over the line but they have given us the belief.

“We just have to look after the bodies.

Obviously after the drawn match, the replay and next weekend, that’s three weeks in a row so there won’t be a whole lot done between now and then.

“It’ll just be get the bodies right and the minds right and then let’s go into next weekend.

“It’s a home match as well so that’s got to count for something.”
