I’m not Sarri to say Ross looks boss at last

-

I AM delighted for Ross Barkley and his manager Maurizio Sarri.

If you asked him he would probably say he is enjoying his football, not being talked about as potential anymore, just being judged on what he does.

For so long he was being judged due to comparisons with the likes of Paul Gascoigne, Wayne Rooney or Steven Gerrard and that can be quite disconcerting.

Barkley, 24, (left) has added some pragmatism and work-rate to his football. And, the better players you train with the better player you become, with all due respect to Everton.

Sarri also deserves plaudits for watching him and adding things to his game.

It is very good story and I love those. Too often managers are eager to jettison players with talent for players that are lower maintenance and more hardworking.

So he also deserves credit for the fact Chelsea have a player playing good technical football, scoring and assisting in a team playing very good football.

I am pleased for both player and manager.
