COMPUTERS can’t match human expertise in accurately translatin­g literary text, a study has found.

Boffins at Dublin City University said machines prefer working from scratch rather than fixing already altered texts.

Dr Joss Moorkens, who carried out the study, said: “The limitation­s of machine translatio­n can be exposed when processing longer, creative sentences typically found in a literary novel, for example.”
