COOK’S TASTY FOR CHERRIES

- BY ALEX CROOK

STEVE COOK served up Bournemouth a place in the quarter-finals for only the third time.

Cook’s second goal of the campaign helped the Cherries continue their storming start to the season after Onel Hernandez had briefly cancelled out Junior Stanislas’ brilliant opener.

Jordon Ibe shaved the crossbar from just inside the penalty area as Eddie Howe’s second string seized the chance to shine.

Bournemouth took the lead six minutes before half-time through a rare moment of Premier League quality from Stanislas (above, far left).

He brought down Jermain Defoe’s pass on his chest before skipping past full-back Ivo Pinto and slamming the ball into the roof of the net.

The goal sparked Norwich into life and

Daniel Farke’s Championship high-fliers were unlucky not to go in level at half-time.

Dennis Srbeny’s sidefooted effort beat Artur Boruc only to rebound off the inside the post.

But Hernandez drew Norwich level 20 minutes from time, guiding his shot beyond Boruc.

Their joy lasted only two minutes before Cook rifled home through a crowded penalty area.

Canaries substitute Jordan Rhodes passed up a glorious chance to level in stoppage time.
