Leicester to play on as tribute
Claude Puel’s shellshocked squad have decided to make the 150-mile trip to south Wales.
City players have been in tears following the death of the club’s popular chairman but are determined to get their season back on track for Srivaddhanaprabha after three games without a victory.
A club statement said: “Leicester City’s Premier League fixture at Cardiff will go ahead as scheduled as the club continues its tributes to its late chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.
“A minute’s silence will be observed before kick-off and players will wear black armbands. An announcement on the rearrangement of the club’s tie against Southampton will be made in due course.”
The late owner’s son and vice-chairman Aiyawatt is expected to be at the game at Cardiff on Saturday and is taking control of the club.
He flew in from Thailand with his mother Aimon, Srivaddhanaprabha’s wife, to visit the stadium to inspect the masses of floral tributes – and to leave their own.
