Brexit move to Ireland for Barclays bank

-

BARCLAYS is set to become Ireland’s biggest bank thanks to Brexit, it has emerged.

Up to 200 jobs will be created when the financial giant shifts its European branches here as part of its plans to make Dublin its EU base.

The lender is set top move into its new office on Molesworth Street soon.

Barclays is to seek final approval from the UK High Court in January to move more than €200billion in European assets to its Irish subsidiary before Britain leaves the EU in March.

The move comes so the bank can continue to trade with the rest of the EU.
