Norton earns €5.8m on top of BBC cash

- BY TOM BRYANT Head of Showbiz

Graham Norton GRAHAM NORTON has been paid €5.8million, dwarfing his Radio 2 salary.

The chat show host, 55, received between €676,000 and €688,000, the BBC revealed in July.

But he was paid almost nine times his Beeb cash as a director of SO Television, makers of BBC One’s The Graham Norton Show.

Accounts say his pay almost doubled from €2.9million the previous year to nearly €5.8million for “presenter fees, production fees and royalties”.

It is partly due to the figures covering 17 months, not the normal 12, but the accounts state the company had done well.

Earlier this year Norton condemned celebrities who avoid paying tax.

He said: “It’s just stupid and very short-sighted.”
