Gosden: Lion’s up against it

-

THE Breeders’ Cup Classic represents “a huge challenge” for Roaring Lion when he makes his dirt debut at Churchill Downs on Saturday, admitted trainerjohn Gosden.

In the absence of big-race jockey Oisin Murphy, Frankie Dettori accompanied the son of Kitten’s Joy — a fourtime Group 1 winner this summer — through a starting gate drill yesterday.

“It is a huge challenge for him, having only won the QEII 11 days ago,” said Gosden (above).

FRANKIE DETTORI believes Enable’s shortened season will work in her favour when she attempts to become the first Arc winner to land the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Churchill Downs on Saturday.

“She is very fresh and seems to have travelled over well,” said Dettori.

“I’m aware of the fact that no horse has won an Arc and a Breeders’ Cup Turf, but records are there to be broken.”
