Whale watch ...from space
SCIENTISTS are studying whales from space.
High-resolution satellite pictures, taken from 385 miles up, are sharp enough to identify species.
The British Antarctic Survey team will use the technology aboard the Worldview-3 spacecraft.
They are to research fin whales in the Mediterranean, north of Corsica, to try to help them avoid collisions with shipping.
The survey’s Dr Jennifer Jackson said: “This is a potential game-changer.”
