Two hour screen limit improves a child’s mental development
Limiting children’s time watching screens, including phones and television, to less than two hours a day may improve their mental development, a study in the Lancet has shown.
Research into 4,520 US children aged 8-11 showed better cognition the more closely they followed guidelines recommending under two hours of screen time a day, at least 60 minutes of physical activity, and 9-11 hours of sleep a night.
Meeting the screen time recommendation – or both that and sleep recommendation – had the strongest link with mental development.
