WILSON’S SPURRED ON BY THREE LIONS SNUB
CALLUM WILSON says being overlooked by England is fuelling his determination to keep trying to catch Gareth Southgate’s eye.
No Englishman has contributed to more goals this season than Bournemouth striker Wilson, who has six goals and four assists. He was in contention for a first Three Lions call up after an impressive start to his debut campaign in 2015 but a knee injury wrecked his hopes.
His form this season reignited calls for the 26-year-old to be selected and he said: “I’m going to focus on
Bournemouth and if the call comes, then it does, and if it doesn’t then I’ll keep working hard like I have been.
“We’ve had a few international breaks and I haven’t made the cut. That’s given me more drive and determination to make the squad and, hopefully, one day it will happen.
“All I can do is keep getting assists and goals and try to be consistent.”
