Patrick Topping arrives in Dublin for the first of two events over the weekend, playing District 8 tonight and tomorrow night. One of the most in-demand names in dance music right now, Newcastle Upon Tyne native Topping has carved out a reputation for himself as a poster boy for that wave of current and exciting and diverse artists coming from the UK.

Not only a DJ, he is also a prolific producer who has released on labels such as Hot Creations, Truesoul & Relief Records and remixed the likes of Booka Shade, Tiga and Matador, whilst securing 11 Beatport No.1s, such as Be Sharp Say Nowt, Forget and Voicemail, a collaborat­ion with the legendary Green Velvet.

The Ibiza connection­s go without saying as he has been a resident for Jamie Jones’s Paradise night at DC10 the last four years. His far reaching appeal has seen him play festivals including Coachella, Awakenings, Ultra & Tomorrowla­nd, complete five tours of Australia, as well as countless shows in Europe, South America, Asia and recently festivals in South Africa.

Mixmag cover star only last year and his City Takeovers’ were the subject of widespread acclaim, with Topping playing a series of pop-up venues in Edinburgh, here in Dublin and across the Irish Sea in Birmingham.

He has also landed two DJ Awards, one DJ

MAG Best of British Award and was voted 11th in Resident Advisor’s Top DJS of 2016 poll.

Tonight he is supported by London based DJ Alex Virgo. Word on the street is it is sold out so it may be tomorrow that you get a chance to catch Topping so tickets are going at €25 while Saturday seems to be only €20. Doors at 11pm.

Tonight in Tengu, across the millennium bridge on Strand Street, the Easy Peelers crew present Hungarian DJ and producer, Gnork AKA Black Leg brings his unique blend of swooning pads, magic chords and breakbeats to the first instalment of “Easy Peelers presents parties at Yamamori Tengu.”

Gnork has been combining elements of house and jungle for about five years now and most recently released his Magic Arps EP. Prior to this, his impressive string of releases under both monikers display a versatile ear for production that’s adaptable house, jungle, techno and everything in between. Support from Vlad and doors at 7.30pm.
