Mcclean furore a load of poppycock
IT’S that time of year again when everyone’s thoughts turn to, err, whether or not James Mcclean is going to wear a poppy.
The fact he said he has no intention of ever donning one doesn’t seem to matter across the water where the same question is asked annually.
It’s the opposite on this side of the Irish Sea where I get criticised for wearing one to honour my relatives who fought and died in two world wars.
The Derry winger has stated he will not have the emblem on his kit when Stoke take on Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.
The club’s fans have backed him and respected his decision. It’s about time the establishment and the media over there did likewise.
