Lib Dem Lord Paddy facing cancer battle
Lord Ashdown FORMER Lib Dem leader Lord Paddy Ashdown has revealed he has a severe form of bladder cancer.
The former MP. 77, confirmed the news yesterday after being diagnosed three weeks ago.
The ex-diplomat and Royal Marine, party leader from 1988-1999, said: “I’ve fought a lot of battles in my life. This time I am lucky enough to have the magnificent help of our local hospital and my friends and family. That gives me great confidence.”
He said the outcome, “as always with things like this, is unpredictable”.
Lib Dem leader Sir Vince Cable offered Lord Ashdown, who is being treated in Yeovil, Somerset, his “very best wishes for a speedy recovery”.
