Gender pay gap appeal

A LABOUR Senator has urged the Government to ramp up efforts to tackle gender inequality in the workplace.

A Bill has passed through the Seanad seeking to remedy the pay gap.

But Ivana Bacik said: “At current rates, the National Women’s Council estimates it will take up to 170 years before it fully closes.

“We cannot wait that long and the Government should now proceed with legislation.”
