SILVA: RICH SWITCH FAR FROM PERFECT

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

EVERTON boss Marco Silva admits he could be losing some of Richarlison’s talents using him at centre forward.

Silva turned to his £40million winger (below) as a central striker after Cenk

Tosun, Dominic Calvert-lewin and Oumar Niasse all struggled in that role, even though he scored three goals from the wing position.

The Toffees boss said: “You can lose some things (with Richarlison there), but you can win some as things as well.

“It is normal in this situation, because it is two completely different positions. Yes, he struggled to hold the ball at Old Trafford in some moments, but it is something we are working on with him.

“And not just with him – even Cenk and Dominic as well.”

Everton played well at Manchester United last weekend, but didn’t convert their chances. There were questions about the Brazilian’s new role, because he scored freely when coming in from the left wing earlier in the season.

Silva added: “Of course, I can understand the questioning but, when he plays as a striker, it is not just about scoring.”
