Cap would be cream for top Kat

WEXFORD’S FAI Cup hero Katrina Parrock would love a chance to showcase her talents with Ireland.

The winger buried the only goal of yesterday’s cup final 11 minutes before the break.

She’s no stranger to delivering on a big stage like Lansdowne Road having led Wexford to four All-ireland camogie titles.

Now that she’s wrapped up a treble in her new code, the 28-year-old has a realistic hope of international recognition.

Ireland boss Colin Bell is preparing for the next European Championship qualifiers kicking off in 2019. All-rounder Parrock, who says she would also like to give rugby a go too, is relishing donning the green jersey.

“I felt I’d ticked every box in camogie so hopefully I can push on now with the football,” she said. “I played once for Ireland’s Under-19s years ago but getting a senior cap would be a nice achievement.”

On a day when both sides struggled to create clearcut chances, Parrock’s cameo of magic proved the difference.

Emma Hansberry did well on the right side to skip by her marker and swing in a deep cross which Rianna Jarrett flicked on.

Parrock still had work to do but wriggled away from Lauryn O’callaghan at the back post to stab the home from six yards.

“A lot of decisions didn’t go our way,” said Peamount boss James O’callaghan after seeing three penalty claims turned down.
