US army ‘will not help build’ Trump camps

- BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN

Migrant kids US generals have refused a request from Donald Trump to build detention centres as thousands of migrants head to the border with Mexico.

The move comes amid tension between the army and the President over using Pentagon military resources to beef up border security.

Last week the US military said it would send 7,000 troops but is said to have resisted Mr Trump’s aim to deploy 15,000 soldiers. A caravan of 5,000 Central America migrants in southern Mexico is expected at the US border by next month.

In a rally ahead of today’s midterm elections, Mr Trump said: “Look at what is marching up, that’s an invasion.”
