Sexual health clinics in the UK had 3.3 million visits in 2017 – a record number and a 13% rise from 2013.

According to data provided by Public Health England, the number of screening tests carried out for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV increased by 18% (from 1,513,288 in 2013 to 1,778,306 in 2017).

The Local Government Associatio­n urged the Government to reverse cuts to public health budgets that could “affect councils’ ability to meet further increases in demand”.
