But a combinatio­n of heavy rainfall and booze made the going Woman’s heels prove too much

tough for many at the event known as “the race that stops a nation”.

Several women were snapped slipping in their high heels and needed a helping hand to make it back to the refreshmen­ts.

And as they enjoyed a concert by pop star Sam Smith, they could drown their sorrows in the knowledge they weren’t the only ones to fall before the finishing line.
