Singer brands non-muslims ‘disgusting’
SINEAD O’connor has said she will not be spending any more time with white people.
The 51-year-old singer announced last month she had converted to Islam and changed her name to Shuhada’ Davitt.
And yesterday she posted on Twitter: “I’m terribly sorry. What I’m about to say is something so racist I never thought my soul could ever feel it.
“But truly I never wanna spend time with white people again (if that’s what non-muslims are called). Not for one moment, for any reason. They are disgusting.”
In reply, people of all faiths accused her of being out of line.
One commented: “No one’s ethnicity makes them disgusting. Likewise, we shouldn’t condemn/generalise all non-muslims as disgusting, especially by citing ethnicity. The Quran says they’re not all the same [Q3:113].” Sinead continued: “Interesting to see if Twitter bans this when it allows people like Trump and Milbank to spew the satanic filth upon even my country.
“BTW if one IS an intelligent theologian and has taken the journey, one would know there is no more talk of ancient violence in the Q’ran as the Tanukh, the Bible or The sodding Mahabarata.
“And its ALL EQUALLY IRELLEVANT TO OUR TIMES #Forf***sake #Reignofwhitemanover.”
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer, from Glenageary, Co Dublin, changed her profile picture on the site, adding the words: “Wear A Hijab: JUST DO IT.”
