Luxury home sold for less than golf legend paid six years ago

House in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida Waterfront property RORY Mcilroy has offloaded his luxurious Florida mansion for €10million, it emerged last night.

The Irishman has sold the waterfront property for less than he initially spent when he bought it in 2012.

The four-time major champion is currently ranked fifth in the world.

Originally listed at a price of nearly €11.3million, Mcilroy looks to have settled for a loss on the 16,000 sq ft pad on a 0.85-acre With wife Erica site. However, the former world No1 has been active in the property market.

He bought fellow golfer Ernie Els’ home in January – a short distance from the Palm Beach Gardens property.

The 29-year-old is also reported to have earned an estimated €35million – most of which was accumulated from earnings off the golf course – in a season that saw him win just one event on the PGA Tour.

Despite an underwhelming year for Mcilroy, the Co Down man can also take solace in an inspiring Ryder Cup win with Europe last month as Thomas Bjorn’s team regained the crown in Paris.
