Warning as heavy rain to cause floods

- BY WILLIAM DUNNE

FLOODING is expected later tonight as the country is to be battered by torrential rain.

It’s going to be “wet and windy” as we head into the weekend and this will continue into next week – but luckily there is no chance of snow.

A Met Eireann forecaster told the Irish Mirror: “It’s impossible to predict the forecast after a couple of weeks from now but the weather will be very unsettled over the next week.

“It won’t be as cold as last week, but there’ll be heavy downpours on Thursday and Friday especially in eastern parts.”

Meanwhile, counties along the east coast are in danger of flooding tonight as strong winds are set to come in off the Atlantic.
