Thug hurler to be sentenced next month
Cathal Barrett ALL-STAR hurler Cathal Barrett will be sentenced next month for his role in an assault.
The 25-year-old was convicted last month of attacking a barman in the lounge of Hayes’ Hotel in Thurles, Co Tipperary, in May last year.
Barrett, an All-ireland winner in 2016, of Beakstown, Holycross, denied the offence.
Yesterday defence solicitor Patrick Kennedy yesterday applied for a further adjournment, saying his client was not present. Judge Elizabeth Macgrath agreed to the request.
Barrett’s brother Brian, 31, admitted assaulting Dylan Kerr and was handed a three-month suspended sentence.
