TWO people have died in separate road crashes.
A man in his 40s was killed in a two-car collision just before 9am on the Portlaoise to Carlow road at Simmons Mill Cross Road, Co Laois.
A woman and her child who were in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. A Garda spokesman said: “The road at the scene of the incident is currently closed to facilitate an examination by forensic investigators. Inquiries are ongoing.”
On Monday night a 68-year-old woman died after a three-vehicle crash. The pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9.45pm on the N63 about 12 miles from Roscommon town.
The drivers of the other vehicles were brought to hospital for treatment.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses to the collision to contact them.
