AISLING O’loughlin has moved to France with her ex-partner Nic Macinnes and their three children – but said they are not back together.

The broadcaster left her Co Wicklow home for a tiny village in Provence with her three sons.

The former Xpose presenter revealed she and her photographer ex moved to France so their boys – Patrick, Louis and Joseph – could be fluent in the language.

She told the Irish Mirror: “We decided we could share a village – maybe not a house.

“So he’s nearby, it’s great. We share all the [parenting] duties. When I have to do a lion’s share of the work for a week or two, I always think of mums who really are doing it by themselves and I tip my hat to them. I have a lot of help with him.

“He’s a great daddy and always has been. We appreciate each other in that sense.”

The Clare woman, who runs lifestyle website Exquisite.ie, revealed she had been thinking of making the move for some time, but finally took the plunge last month.

She said: “I was going back and forth thinking, ‘Am I going to do this or not?’. That’s why I never really said anything.

“It was October when we made the final heave and just thought, ‘Let’s do it, let’s have an adventure’. The kids are half French – Nick was born in Paris – and half the family are all French speakers.

“I’ve always wanted my kids to be bilingual. I think it’s a great gift to have, to have two languages perfectly.

“I want it so badly but I think I want it too badly that I keep grasping for it and overthinking about it, which is probably why I’m not bilingual. But hopefully I’ll get there.”

Aisling added she’s going to see how she likes With Patrick & Louis

Aisling O’loughlin announced move on Instagram living in France for a year before making a final decision on where the family will settle, but she’s already happy to have made the move.

She said: “There’s a purpose to bringing the kids over, but I think even if you don’t have a French family it’s a great idea to do something that scares the s **** out of you, because it does. Again, [the kids are] two, four and six so they’re at that stage where they [just get on with it].”
