JACK HAPPY WITH END OF THE ERRORS

NO more moping. That was the message from England keeper Jack Butland after his last-ditch heroics clinched a point for Stoke.

The Potters have struggled to come to terms with relegation from the Premier League.

But Butland (above) believes they are beginning to adapt to very different demands.

He said: “It feels as if the season has been eight months long already. We are well away from last year. We can’t keep using that as a potential reason for why we’ve started slow.

“It’s a new group, new manager, new staff, new opponents and a new season.

“We have to find a way to do it this year, get ourselves back up there – but we are showing really good signs of being able to do that.”

Stoke left the City

Ground convinced that Forest keeper Costel Pantilimon should have been sent off after connecting with Benik Afobe outside the area in the first half.

But it still needed a string of crucial saves from Butland late on to prevent Forest’s Joe Lolley or Lewis Grabban (above) snatching a winner.

As he prepared to join up with Gareth Southgate’s squad, Butland admitted he was pleased with his current form.

He added: “It’s my job. We are limiting opponents to opportunities where I can make an impact.

“Earlier in the season we were perhaps a little wide open and you feel a bit helpless at times.

“If it’s a one v one it’s something I can affect.

“If it’s a distance shot it’s something I can affect.

“It hasn’t been getting cut open and tap-ins – and that’s a real positive.”
