- BY NIALL O’CONNOR

A MAN in his 40s was shot dead last night as the bloody Hutch-kinahan feud claimed another victim.

Gardai were called to the scene in the Glen Easton Way housing estate in Leixlip, Co Kildare, shortly after 9pm.

Victim Clive Staunton, believed to be a widowed father of one, is understood to be connected to the Hutch gang. A Garda spokesman said: “The scene is

sealed off pending the arrival of Garda Crime Scene Examiners and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.

“Gardai are appealing for anyone who was in the Glen Easton Estate this evening between 8.30pm and 9.30pm to contact them at Leixlip Garda Station on 01 666 7800.”

It is understood the victim is originally from the Greek Street flats in Dublin’s inner city.

The spokesman added: “Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene of an incident outside a house at Glen Easton Way, Leixlip, Co Kildare, following a report of a shooting at about 9.15pm.

“A man in his 40s was treated at the scene for serious injuries but was later pronounced dead.” A source told the Irish Mirror gardai were conducting houseto-house inquiries in the estate last night.

So far, at least 15 people have died in the Kinahan-hutch gang feud despite the success of detectives in thwarting several hits.

The killings began in Spain with the double-cross murder of Gary Hutch – a nephew of Gerry “The Monk” – in September 2015. This was followed by the shooting of David Byrne at a boxing weigh-in at the Regency Hotel in Dublin in February 2016.

This month three people were sentenced to life for their roles in the murder of dad-of-one Gareth Hutch in May 2016.

The shooting was caught on CCTV as he went to his car outside his home in Dublin.
