- BY KATIE GALLAGHER

Jenny Dixon FAIR City’s Jenny Dixon has spoken of her shock after California wildfires hit her co-star’s home.

However, the actress, who played Kerri-ann in the RTE soap until her dramatic exit this year, added she won’t let the deadly blazes put her off returning to the US.

Speaking at a private event for outpatients at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin hosted by Disney Store Dublin, Jenny said: “I was thinking about this today. I don’t think it would stop me.

“It is shocking to see it but it wouldn’t make me not go back again.

“Victor [Burke] is over in Malibu and we’d always meet up when we are in LA so I’ve been in touch with him this week.” Singer Marian Fossett spoke of Sonny’s kindness and how he had told her to “have faith in your own little act” when her group Sheeba had broken up and she returned to cabaret as a solo artist.

Fans also paid tribute to the singer on social media.

One posted: “RIP Sonny Knowles. I can distinctly recall as a child watching him on telly and the absolute joy he’d bring to an audience as they’d happily sing along. A true pro and a giant of Irish showbiz.”

Another wrote: “RIP Sonny Knowles, my parents brought us to see him in Butlins, we loved him great childhood memories.”

The star is survived by his wife Sheila and their children Aisling, Geraldine and Gary.
