STEP Brothers star John C Reilly has revealed he is considering moving to Ireland when he retires.

The Hollywood actor, 53, added he is trying to put the plans in motion by applying for dual citizenship so he can stay here whenever he wants.

He told Irish Mirror: “I do really want it. I really do.

“It allows you to work in Europe easily and I could come and go from here and stay for periods of time without having to worry about visa issues but I do really love it here and I am sincere when I say it.

“I am trying to achieve dual citizenship.

“So far nothing has happened but a lot of talking about it has happened so that is the beginning of something like that.

“It’s talking about it so I am hoping to keep talking about it further.”

When asked if he would ever plan to move to Ireland permanently, Reilly said: “Yeah, definitely I really would. I mean the older I get the more I consider it.

“I mean you got to move somewhere when you are too old to do what you did before.”

However, keeping tight- lipped about where he would plan to settle down, he added: “It will be a national secret.”

The US actor, who

has made no secret of his love for Ireland in the past, was in Dublin’s Lighthouse Cinema for the Irish premiere of his new Disney flick Ralph Breaks the Internet.

And after bragging about his pintpulling skills from the night before, Reilly went on to reveal he has lost track of where his Irish roots stem from.

He joked: “They are way in the North, but they could be Greek mythology for all I know at this point.

“It has been a couple of generations.”

Meanwhile, his director Phil Johnston added he is also regular visitor to the country, revealing he also has Irish heritage.

He said: “We are from the North actually, my family were from Belfast.

“My wife and I brought my father here about 10 years ago because my dad had never been and it is where his family are from. “My mom’s side is Hogan and O’neill and my dad’s side is Johnston so it’s a Scottish name.”

And proving just as big a fan of the nation as Reilly, the film boss said: “My wife and my kids rented a castle in the west, not too far from the Cliffs of Moher a few years ago.

“It was probably the best vacation I’ve ever had. It was magical.”
