Crime clearly pays for sex beasts given State pension

Dolphin’s home-alone in ‘world’s worst city’

-

A DAD’S attempt to reveal the gender of his baby caused a wildfire that destroyed nearly 50,000 acres of brush and forest in California and cost $8million to put out.

If you or I were making such an announcement we’d simply say, ‘It’s a boy’ or, ‘It’s a girl’.

But not off-duty border guard Dennis Dickey who, being American, had to involve guns and explosives.

Mr Dickey fired ammunition at a prop which detonated, revealing his child’s gender but also starting the blaze that burned for days in the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountains.

As for the baby, if it was a boy, I hope they called him Arsene.

IT’S been a good week for rapists and perverts who can now get paid for their crimes while in prison and hide from the public when they get out. Just imagine – in future the State may have to pay pensions to all jailed murderers, sex abusers and child molesters.

It doesn’t matter how horrendous their crimes or the pain they inflicted on their victims. The only stipulation is they must be over 66 years of age.

While it might sound obscene, our Supreme Court this week made what can only be described as a landmark “pensions for perverts” ruling.

Or you could call it “money for monsters” because that’s the only word which truly describes the vile beast who brought this case.

The 76-year-old, on whose side the Supreme Court came down, was convicted of 12 charges of rape and 60 counts of sexual assault against a family member. He was jailed for 12 years.

But let’s overlook a few misdemeanours like that – the important thing is, he made PRSI contributions throughout his life.

He might have gone home to carry out rapes and sexual assaults in the Shane Lynch acts up on The Late Late evenings but during his working day he paid his dues. This poor soul retired in 2005 and got his State pension but, after his conviction in 2011, it was suddenly stopped.

Demanding justice, he went to the High Court claiming the denial of his payments was incompatible with the Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights.

Imagine this, coming from a multiple rapist who destroyed a life. Where else would you hear such an obscene allegation, except in an Irish court?

And did I mention the damages? This pensions for perverts campaigner is also claiming damages and could well be in for a big payout alongside his backdated pension.

The cost of taking his case all the way to the highest court doesn’t come cheap and guess who’s going to fund it?

The same people who are going to pay for his compo – you and me.

Compare this outrageous scandal to that of the thousands of women denied their full pensions due to a meanspirited move in 2012 by then Social Protection Minister Joan Burton.

Their only crime was taking time out of the workforce to raise their children

and they were, until recently, still being punished. The difference between them and the sex beast was these woman, having taken a break to give birth, hadn’t made enough contributions to secure the full State pension.

Which proves the point almost everything in this country revolves around money rather than morals.

There was more good news for “pensions for perverts” man this week because when he gets out, which could be as early as the end of next year, he will be able to enjoy his money in peace.

The Dail this week heard publishing the names and whereabouts of convicted sex offenders is not a great idea. In fact, it could lead to parents finding out where child molesters live.

Apparently, this could backfire and force abusers to go “under the radar” which, surely, is what they do anyway and the reason so many get away with their crimes.

Ministers have toyed with the idea of allowing schools and neighbours THE sight of a dolphin in the Liffey caused a bit of commotion during the week with many asking why he would come to what a recent study declared was the world’s worst city in which to find an affordable home. Our flippered friend, pictured, was obviously lost when he wandered into the centre of Dublin – or maybe he was being chased by the above-mentioned loan to be told the names and addresses of high-risk offenders. They should now follow through with it.

For years, the Irish Mirror has campaigned for a Sarah’s Law-type disclosure scheme which would allow parents and guardians to know if someone with a criminal record for sex offences was living in their area.

Far from being victimised, such predators are adept at using the law to protect and even enrich themselves.

In recent years there have been cases of sex offenders flocking to Ireland and admitting their crimes here rather than face extradition to countries such as the US where they would receive much, much heavier sentences.

Anonymity should only apply to protect the innocent and not be used to shield the abusers.

As the law stands, TV licence fee dodgers and dole frauds are named and shamed but kiddie fiddlers are given a cloak of invisibility allowing them to hide in plain sight.

Everything here revolves around money ...not morals

sharks heading this way. However, he was obviously a very intelligent animal as he mostly splashed around downriver and swam wellclear of the notorious boardwalk.

Still, those who know about such things said the animal was in good health. Which is just as well otherwise he’d have to hang around for a couple of years to see a specialist.
