certain amount of time was Christmas last year.

“So that was to record the album (Only Ticket Home), but I didn’t have anything written and I was freaking because I had nothing, and I had just released Hearts on Fire, but that was all I had.

“I was telling everyone else ‘ah it’s all in my head, it’s all in my head everyone. It’s fine.’ “And then I just took some time to chill out with my family after that many years away and then when I went to pick up my guitar I wrote ‘Always’ and then they all kind of poured out really quick.

“Which never really happened before, so it was all off the base of one song that the whole album was written really.”

He added: “All it takes is one tiny thing, one little idea and the whole song comes.”

Speaking to The Beat last August, Gavin opened up about the devastating break up that inspired much of Only Ticket Home.

The master of soulful love songs said his monster hit ‘Always’ was one of the first songs he recorded for the album.

“It the mood for every other song on the album after that sonically so as people listen to the album, there is a natural flow to the album.

“It’s all about loss for me, it was about ending a relationship last year and then immediately regretting it, so it’s pretty apologetic as a tune.

“However, the song can have a lot of different meanings and I’m excited for people to listen to it and make their mind up themselves about what it means to them.”

The enigmatic Dimitri From Paris comes back to visit Dublin tonight at District 8. The French disco maestro has been doing his own edits and remixes for years and it certainly ain’t his first time to the dance.

Synonymous with the current Glitterbox parties – this current climate of disco fever is no doubt delighting Dim.

It was Djing that gave the then 36-year-old Dimitri a break over a decade ago, when the European radio station CFM hired him to mix records on the air.

Because of the then lack of dance remixers in France, his career in radio led to his being asked to rework tracks for various artists, among them Björk, New Order, and the Brand New Heavies.

Along the way he was hired by chic fashion designers like Chanel, Gaultier, and Lagerfeld to put together soundtracks for runway shows and boutiques. Leading of course to bus Night At The Playboy mansion iconic compilations.

When he started Djing quickly there were more and more tools -- technical tools -- available to DJS allowing them to make more creative things and eventually to make their own music without actually knowing how to play a particular instrument.

With the advent of samplers and other machines at a budget that made them accessible in the mid ‘80s, DJ’S like Dim started making their own tracks. Dimitri of course was also learning the process of how a track is constructed by doing remixes for people. Finally, He was able to produce his own tracks and indeed clever re edits of the likes of Prince and Madonna not to mention his recent Chic reworks album.

It looks like it’s Dimitri all night long – so get down early with doors at 23.00 and door entry €20.

Ahead of Terrence Parker’s visit to Wigwam next weekend, tonight the Bodytonic crew present Leon Vynehall tomorrow night at the Abbey Street Venue.he as well is doing an all night long set so it’s Leon from beginning to end.

Doors are €12 with doors at 11pm.
