ELECTRIC Picnic tickets for next year’s event have sold out in a record 15 minutes despite none of the line-up being revealed.

The passes went on sale at 9am yesterday and were all snapped up almost immediately.

A spokeswoman said: “For the first time ever in the festival’s 15-year history, tickets sold out months in advance of the line-up being revealed, which is testament to the enduring popularity of Ireland’s biggest music and arts festival.”

All weekend camping, family weekend camping, Sunday day, campervan passes and family campervan passes were snapped up in yesterday’s sale.

Weekend passes were also available for €250 plus a service charge. The public were also able to purchase Sunday tickets for €95, as well as early entry passes for €25 which allow access to the campsite on the Thursday.

Generally, weekend passes go on sale in March, however, organisers for the festival said this was the last batch of tickets that will go on sale.

All that is left are a limited number of passes that will be made available to Three customers reward system.

Alternatively, the only option for those left disappointed yesterday morning is to sign up for the Tour De Picnic, which sees 1,000 festival goers cycle and run their way to the picnic for charity.

The Electric Picnic has grown hugely in popularity over the past few years as early-bird tickets that were released on through its September 7 also sold out in record time.

Despite originally being seen as a chilled-out family alternative to some of the more hectic festivals, it now has a capacity of almost 60,000 people and has featured such top acts such as Kendrick Lamar, LCD Soundsystem, Underworld and the Chemical Brothers.

The capacity for 2019 will be 57,500 – an increase of 2,500 last year – across 600 acres of the Stradbally Estate.

The music and arts festival has taken place annually in Stradbally, Co Laois, and this year it will be held over the weekend of August 30 to September 1.

Organisers said the official line-up will be announced in the New Year.
