‘NOTHING JUST ABOUT O’S DEFEAT’

LEYTON ORIENT manager Justin Edinburgh refused to be too downhearted despite defeat at Boreham Wood.

Femi Ilesanmi’s early goal gave the hosts a shock win, but the O’s remain top of the National League.

Edinburgh, though, was unhappy with Boreham Wood’s tactics. He said

“I’m disappointed with the result. It’s frustrating. I don’t think we were helped by the opposition’s antics – but it is up to the referee to decide on time-wasting.

“We don’t like losing. This is a first away defeat of the season so we must not be too disappointed and lose sight of where we are.”

Orient were helped by second-placed Salford also losing – for the first time in 21 league matches. Two goals from Alex Kiwomya handed Chesterfield a surprise 2-0 league win, their first since August.

Spireites chief Martin Allen said: “I’m pleased for the players, fans and everyone at the club.

“We played with great passion. I thought it was a fantastic performance from start to finish.”

Wrexham warmed up for their FA Cup replay at Newport tomorrow with a 2-0 home win over Eastleigh, thanks to goals from James Jennings and Bobby Grant.

Graham Barrow again took charge in a caretaker capacity following Sam Ricketts’ departure to Shrewsbury.

Wrexham are fourth and Barrow said: “It’s easy to expect the sort of performance we got in front of the TV cameras last week, but we worked well this week and the players showed a good appetite.

“We have spoken about getting back to winning ways and I thought we were worthy winners.

“We’ve given ourselves a platform to have a good season and we want that.

“The league is our bread and butter and we want to be in that leading pack.”
