Evan’s star to get some Silverware

- BY ROBERT HYNES

SILVER STREAK is my pick for the International Hurdle in Laurina’s absence at Cheltenham this afternoon.

The Evan Williamstrained five-year-old has finished ahead of a number of today’s runners already this season and it’s hard to see why he can’t do that again here.

He landed the Welsh Champion Hurdle on his seasonal debut before finishing second in a Grade 3 around this course last time out, with Old Guard and Western Ryder among those behind him.

THE NEW ONE has been a great servant to Nigel Twiston-davies over the years and if today is to be his last ever race, what a career he has had.

Among his successes are three victories in this contest, the Neptune at the Cheltenham Festival and the Aintree Hurdle.

But he has shown little since winning a

Champion Hurdle trial at Haydock in January and is hard to fancy here.

SUMMERVILLE BOY is a deserved favourite for the contest after his win in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Festival in March, but I fancy Silver Streak to triumph with Barry Geraghty an interesting jockey booking.

BARON ALCO always gives his all and is usually there or thereabouts in his races. He won around here last time and I fancy him to do so again in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup Handicap Chase, also at

Cheltenham.

is favourite having being brought down in the contest won by Baron Alco, but Cheltenham is becoming a bit of a curse for Nicky Henderson’s horse. He is now winless from four visits – unseating the rider, finishing second, ninth and being brought down.

At the prices, Baron Alco looks a great value each-way bet.

And DOUX PRETENDER can notch another win for Nicky Henderson in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle.

Noel Fehily rode him to victory at Ascot last time and he is back on board today.

At Doncaster, ROCKY’S TREASURE looks the one to beat in the bet365 December Novices’ Chase.

His winning run came to an end last time when he finished second to the classy looking Santini. There was no shame in that and this small field looks like a good chance to return to winning ways.

At the same venue, CRACKER FACTORY can taste another success in the bet365 Summit Juvenile Hurdle.

This lad achieved little on the flat, but has been a model of consistency since joining Alan

King.

He has never finished outside the first two in six runs over hurdles and should be thereabouts again here.

(9/4) OK CORRAL

An interesting recruit to chasing. of If he can follow in the footsteps be stablemate Santini, he could very special.
