ONE of the teenagers charged with murdering schoolgirl Anastasia Kriegel will be allowed to spend Christmas with his grandparents.

The 14-year-old boy is accused of killing Ana at Glenwood House, Laraghcon, Clonee Road, Lucan, in Dublin in May.

Her body was discovered at a disused farmhouse, three days after she was reported missing.

Two teenage boys charged with the murder and are on bail. They cannot be named because they are minors.

One of the accused was before the Central Criminal Court yesterday morning to have his bail conditions varied over Christmas. Mr Justice Michael White granted the variations and he will now be allowed to go with his parents to his grandparents’ home for Christmas Day and to stay there on Christmas night.

He will also be allowed to go for a walk, accompanied by his parents and/ or grandparents, so long as it’s not in Leixlip, Co Kildare.

The trial of the teenagers, which is due to last for more than four weeks, is due to begin on April 29. Prosecutors want a joint trial.

The Central Criminal Court heard that there is a lot of CCTV and forensic evidence to be considered by jurors.

In October, an inquest into 14-year-old Anastasia’s death found she died of blunt force trauma to the head.

There was also evidence of a sexual assault. The postmortem was conducted by State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy.

The brutal cause of her violent death was read into evidence at the opening of the inquest at Dublin Coroner’s Court.

Anastasia, who was adopted from Russia aged two, left her house in Leixlip at around 5pm on May 14.

The alarm was then raised and gardai were alerted when she did not return home. A search was launched the following day.

Her parents Patrick and Geraldine Kriegel attended the opening of the Ana’s body was found at derelict house in Lucan inquest into her death accompanied by Garda liaison officer Siobhan Mcintyre.

Mrs Kriegel entered the witness box to give evidence of how she identified her daughter’s remains.

She told the hearing: “On May 18 at 4pm I and my husband identified our daughter Anastasia Eva Kriegel to Garda Mcintyre.”

The officer, who is based at Ronanstown Garda station, confirmed this event took place at Dublin City Morgue and that she formally identified the remains to pathology staff.

The inquest was then formally adjourned until after criminal proceedings are complete.
