Chisora: I won’t bad mouth AJ

- BY MARTIN DOMIN

DERECK CHISORA hailed Anthony Joshua the “king of boxing” – and refused to call out the world heavyweight champion.

Chisora could land a shot at his fellow Brit if he beats Dillian Whyte in their rematch on Saturday.

Joshua has backed the 34-year-old to avenge his defeat two years ago and Chisora has no plans to demand a Wembley clash in April. He said: “Me and AJ have a great relationship, I’d never bad-mouth the guy.

“He’s done so well for himself, every time he has stepped up to the plate he has produced.

“If I sit down and start bad-mouthing him, when there is no real animosity between us, then the fans will hate me. He has done all this by himself. I gave him one piece of advice when he turned pro and that was to surround himself with great people.

“If he wants to get in the ring after the fight then he can, he is the king of heavyweight boxing so he can do whatever he wants. If it happens it will be a great fight.”

Whyte lost to Joshua in 2015 and can secure a rematch with another win over Chisora.

And he said: “Joshua said publicly that Chisora was his hero and they have formed a little team. He’s doing his thing, I’m bothered about what’s in front of me, it’s my night.”

Joshua will be joined at ringside by undefeated American Jarrell Miller who is also jostling for a shot at the champion.
