OLE’S THE GREAT ENTERTAINER... HE WILL BRING STYLE BACK TO OLD TRAFFORD

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER will bring style and respect to mend Manchester United.

That is the verdict of Molde managing director Oystein Neerland, who insists it is an “honour” for the Norwegian club to lend their boss to Old Trafford.

But Neerland also painted a picture of Solskjaer United fans will love when it comes to style, tradition and respect – a welcome change after Jose Mourinho’s troubled reign.

Solskjaer knows about United’s DNA from his 11 years at Old Trafford – and he has adopted that approach as a manager.

Neerland told Mirror Sport: “For us, he is an offensive coach who plays entertaining football and sees winning 4-2 as being better than 1-0.

“He is very good at building teams, working within a structure to develop home-grown players and giving them confidence to play, but also being able to know when to sell them because that is how this club works.

“He has been so successful here. He has been here for six years – before and after Cardiff – and is very stable, very loyal and, just like at Manchester United, he is a former player so he knows the club very well and knows the DNA.

“He is a very positive guy. He is easy to like and has a clear vision of how to play football, but also works well with individual players.

“There is no doubt in my mind he will do well at Manchester United. He is a club legend there and that means he will get respect from players and fans.

“It’s important he knows the history of the club and knows Manchester United’s past and what makes them successful.

“It’s new times for the players, but they will like him personally, they will enjoy working with him and it will be a big challenge to get some good results.

“It’s a surprise, but not so much when you remember he’s got such history with the club, understands it and is also such a nice guy. He works well with players and is a gentleman.” Solskjaer was known as the “baby-faced assassin” (above) under Sir Alex Ferguson when he was United’s supersub.

Now the 45-year-old, who joined United from Molde as a player in 1996, will be expected to work more miracles from the bench, but this time as manager.

Solskjaer had a wretched time in charge at Cardiff and ironically returns there for his first game in charge with United.

But even those in Wales paint a picture of a charming man who struggled because the club was already in turmoil.

Neerland insists that experience did not scar the former striker and should not define him.

He added: “What happened at Cardiff did not change him. He is a legend here and a former player so we welcomed him back.

“We believe he will go to Manchester United, that will help him improve as a coach and it will be an honour for him and us.

“But we only ever discussed him being there until the end of the season then he will return. In football, you never know. But we expect him back.”
