Festive greetings from Bratislava where I am Djing tonight at Uhuclub. It’s full Christmas mode this week no matter where you are and tonight Manchester duo Mark Richards and James Eliot(sic) trading as Solardo make their mark on District 8.

The prolific duo’s meteoric rise over the last few years in down to their hard work in the studio and their infectious energy in the club.

Quality releases via imprints like Viva, and elrow helped rocket them to their first Beatport No.1 with their breakthrough record on Hot Creations, ‘Tribesmen’.

Since then, the pair have catapulted into the public eye, remixing tracks for the likes of Duke Dumont & Gorgon City, MK, and Nicole Moudaber & Carl Cox. Having released EPS on Toolroom Records,

Repopulate Mars and Green Velvet’s Relief Records, they launched their own imprint, Sola, which has so far housed productions from the likes of Camelphat, Secondcity as well as Mason Maynard.

After selling out The Warehouse Project at the end of last year, the pair kicked off 2018 with their second sold-out Solardo Sessions tour which also included dates in Barcelona, Milan and Rotterdam as well as completing a stint of shows in the US.

Touring and music aside, the duo have even found time to start their own radio show named ‘The Spot’ which has seen special guests come through such as Claude Vonstroke, Nicole Moudaber, MK, Skream and many more. Also on the bill tomorrow night are Lorenz Rhode and Detroit

Swindle. Tickets €20 with doors at 11pm.

Index in Arran Quay host Blawan tomorrow night along side Subject resident Robert Kavanagh aka Mode 1 and Gary Kavanagh (no relation) Jamie Blawan Roberts grew up in Barnsley, UK and from an early age was etching out his musical path as a drummer, which should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with his productions. Indeed, his discography as Blawan demonstrates a natural fluency for rhythm, whether straight, stridently syncopated, or no nonsense prime time.

Having released across the board of jet-black minimalism, jubilant two-step vocal cuts, and savant grooving techno, the labels Roberts has worked with are appropriately varied: Hessle Audio, R&S, Clone’s Basement Series, Hinge Finger, and Black Sun as Blawan, plus The Trilogy Tapes and Avian under his other solo names.

Admission €15 with doors 11pm.
