Finian sings the Blues.. and all for a good cause
Finian Mcgrath MINISTER Finian Mcgrath has penned a new song lampooning the trials and tribulations of being an independent in Government.
And the Independent Alliance member performed it specially for the Irish Mirror.
Mr Mcgrath is wellknown for his musical talents, but he has been a bit quiet of late.
But that has now changed with his catchy new tune, the Independent Blues.
We caught up with Mr Mcgrath in his ministerial office last week for the first official recording of the track.
And while he doesn’t expect to set the charts alight, he is asking anyone who likes the song to show their appreciation by donating to the Capuchin Day Centre, the Dublin charity run by Brother Kevin Crowley and his team.
DONATION
The minister got the ball rolling with a donation of €100.
His song name checks most of the big beasts in Irish politics, from Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Paschal “The Peacemaker” Donohoe, Eoghan Murphy and Regina Doherty in Fine Gael to opposition leaders Micheal Martin and Mary Lou
Mcdonald.
Of course his own colleagues in the Independent Alliance – Shane Ross, Boxer Moran, John Halligan and Sean Canney – all get a special mention.
Here’s a taster with the first few verses and chorus of the memorable number. ■■The full version can be viewed at www. irishmirror.ie or on our Facebook page.
