CONOR Mcgregor was the toast of his local when he splashed €4,000 on a round of Christmas drinks.

The UFC star called into the Black Forge Inn in Drimnagh, Dublin, on Monday night.

Publican Liam Flynn said: “He’s so unbelievably decent.”

UFC star Conor Mcgregor splashed the cash and spent €4,000 on a round of festive drinks for regulars at his local pub.

The 30-year-old dropped into the Black Forge Inn in Drimnagh, South Dublin, on Chrismas Eve and insisted on treating everyone inside.

Co-owner Liam Flynn said the fighter’s generous gesture was typical of the man.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, he added the former two-weight UFC champion has never forgotten his roots.

He said: “He came in and spread the love. He bought a round for everybody in the pub.

“I think it came to about €4,000. He’s so decent it’s unbelievable.

“Conor has never forgotten where he came from which is the good thing about him.

“He still has his friends that he had years ago who he looks after. In his work, he meets the most famous people in the world but he still comes home and talks to me.

“He always comes in here and shakes my hand. He gave everyone a measure. He’s some beer slinger as well. He must be good at everything that fella.

“Conor’s a global superstar. I will tell you one thing, what has happened to that young lad is that his whole life is after changing now in the space of five years.

“I remember Conor coming in here and he wouldn’t have had much money and he would often say to me, ‘Liam is there any chance of selling me a bottle of vodka?’

“I would say to him, ‘We normally don’t do that Conor’.

But I did it for him. His life is changing, I hope for the better.”

And Liam predicted it’s likely the fighter will be in for another visit before the New Year. He added: “He will definitely be in over the next few days or the next week. I have stuff for him to sign – one or two items for charity.”

And the bar owner said he himself now has a big following on social media since pictures of him with Mcgregor in his pub were posted online.

Liam revealed: “I have about 15,000 new followers on Instagram. Millions of people saw that picture which is mad.”

And Mr Flynn hit back at recent speculation that Mcgregor had bought the pub.

He said: “No there’s no truth at all. I’m one of the owners. It’s just speculation.

“If Conor ever bought this pub it would be out there big time.”

The Crumlin native arrived at the pub with bottles of his Proper No 12 whiskey. He posted the pictures with Liam and other staff members on Instagram with the caption: “Happy.”
