Couple meet for 1st time at airport.. then marry

- BY LOUIE SMITH

Sarah & Paul TWO strangers flew to Las Vegas to get married on Christmas Day – having met for the first time at the airport in their wedding gear.

Sarah Elliott, 34, and Paul Edwards, 36, had connected through a dating app only 10 days earlier and spoke on the phone for the first time just three days before they tied the knot.

Nanny Sarah said: “I know it’s crazy. Hardly any of my friends are supporting me – in fact, a lot of them are disowning me. I haven’t told my family yet.”

Dad-of-two Paul said: “It’s absolutely mental. If you asked me two weeks ago if I thought I’d be married by now I’d have thought you were insane.”

Paul from Chichester, West Sussex, was yesterday preparing to tell his daughters, aged 13 and 15, about their new stepmum. He had found himself single early this year after his planned March wedding was called off.

SURPRISE

Sarah also split from her ex in February, though she is still living with him in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, as they wait to sell their home.

She said: “You think you know people, but it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been with someone for, they can surprise you and not in a good way. You just don’t know. So this time I thought, ‘Why not take a chance and have a bit of faith?’”

Sarah, who grew up in New Zealand, first sent Paul a message on December 15 after liking the “open and honest” description on his dating app profile.

They first spoke on December 22, staying on the phone for hours.

It was during their second phone chat the next day that they decided to wed after Sarah mentioned Channel 4 show Married at First Sight.
