Fright wedding

TAMZIN Outhwaite has warned the aftermath of her Eastenders wedding is so dark that she will not let her daughters watch.

The star’s character Mel gets her revenge on bigamist love rat Ray Kelly in the soap’s big festive episodes. Tamzin, 48, spent long nights filming the showdown with Sean Mahon and Charlie Winter, who play Ray and Hunter, Mel’s teenage son, with rumours rife that someone dies. Tamzin said: “It’s like a horror or the darker side of Eastenders, so I’m not sure I’ll want my children to watch. When I was out there I was scared. “But I’m all up for the darkness. It felt dangerous to film.”

She said daughters Florence, 10, and Marnie, six, with ex-husband, actor Tom Ellis, do not really watch Eastenders anyway. “They find it weird,” she said. “I think they’d watch it more if I wasn’t in it!” Tamzin appeared as Mel in 1998 and dramatically returned last year after 15 years away. After a sizzling romance with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) Mel fell back into ex Ray’s arms after Hunter got in touch with him. But she learned he is already married to two other women and has spent months plotting to expose him on their wedding day. It is another chapter in the character’s troubled marriage history. In 1999 she tied the knot with Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) after he told her his daughter Lucy had cancer, but left him at the reception when she discovered Lucy had got the all-clear. She also wed Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) in 2001 despite him learning she had a tryst with Phil Mitchell (Steve Mcfadden), sparking the Who Shot Phil? storyline. Tamzin loves being back in Walford but is not keen on the sex scenes.

She said: “It’s not an age thing. “I just don’t want to get my kit off.” Tamzin with Florence, 10, & Marnie, 7
