Puel: My Foxes are amazing

- BY JAMES NURSEY

CLAUDE PUEL hailed Leicester’s stars as “amazing” after completing successive wins over Chelsea and Manchester City.

The 2016 title winners built on their win at Stamford Bridge by stunning the defending Premier League champions 2-1.

Delighted boss Puel (below) said: “We managed the game well to come back quickly and equalise just at the right moment.

“I am happy for my players because it is amazing against the top side.

“We performed well against Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal and Tottenham without good reward and it is a good feeling and encouraging to have this success. We had some good chances before halftime without scoring, and I was a little afraid.

“We knew against the top side it would be difficult without the ball but it was important to put in place good organisation and patience.”

Portugal full-back Ricardo Pereira smashed in the winner – his second goal for the club from the edge of the box.

Puel is pleased with how £20million summer signing Pereira has adjusted to the top flight after his move from Porto.

Puel, who managed Pereira at

Nice, added: “I think he improved a lot.

“He has come back strongly. He is a former winger and he kept this ability to continue to attack.”

Puel changed Leicester’s shape in the first half from 4-5-1 to 4-4-1-1 by giving James Maddison a note to switch him from the flank to operate behind Jamie Vardy.
