HORNET STINGS BLUES AGAIN

- BY PAUL BROWN

ROBERTO PEREYRA made it a treble against Chelsea, but he could not stop his Watford side slumping to their first defeat in four games.

The Argentina star has faced the Blues three times and three times he has scored, making the west Londoners his favourite opponents.

But his first-half equaliser here, his sixth goal of the season, was overshadowed by Eden

Hazard’s brace as

Christian Kabasele was rushed to hospital after a nasty collision.

Javi Gracia’s side, who won this fixture 4-1 in

February, endured a nightmare start when

Kabasele (right) limped off in the 16th minute.

The Hornets defender slid painfully into a post trying to block a Willian shot and despite trying to play on after lengthy treatment, could not continue.

Watford then shot themselves in the foot when Etienne Capoue’s poor backpass was intercepted by Mateo Kovacic. And Chelsea’s Eden Hazard raced on to his pass to score the opener, only for Pereyra to smash a brilliant curling equaliser almost immediately.

After that it was a tale of two penalties.

One not given for what looked a foul by

David Luiz on Watford’s Gerard Deulofeu. And another won, and scored by Hazard – who was fouled by Ben Foster – to give Chelsea victory.
